ABOUTWhat is Nostrasia?
Nostrasia is a Nostr conference, and a festival, that started in Japan. First held in 2023, it has run every year since, with the 2024 and 2025 editions in Tokyo. Past editions brought talks, LTs, hands-on sessions, a market, the Nostr Shrine, a hero show and DJs together in one place, along with all kinds of people.
Nostr is a decentralized protocol that doesn't rely on any particular company or server. You sign your posts with your own key and put them on several relays (servers that store and pass posts along). The “New to Nostr?” section below shows how it works.

NOSTR 101New to Nostr?
Four steps show how a Nostr post reaches its readers.
01Make your keys
First, you create a pair of keys: a secret key
nsecand a public keynpub. Your npub is the ID that identifies you, and it's fine to share. Your nsec is the secret key only you hold. You don't need to sign up with an email address or anything else.02Sign
When you write a post (a note), you sign it with your secret key. Thanks to the signature, anyone can check that you really wrote it, wherever it ends up.
03Send it to relays
You send the signed post to several relays. A relay is just a server that stores and passes posts along. Even if one goes down, the same post stays on the others.
04Read it in an app
An app (client) gathers posts from whichever relays you like and shows them. As long as you have your key, you keep the same account even if you switch apps. You can also send a zap ⚡ (a small amount of bitcoin) to posts you like.

Can I join if I've never used Nostr?
Yes, as long as you pre-register. Past editions had programs for newcomers, such as hands-on sessions. The 2026 program is still being arranged. Take a look at “New to Nostr?” on this page as well.
Is there a fee?
Fee: Free (All-you-can-drink included).
Do I need to pre-register?
Yes. Please sign up on events lab with the “Pre-register” button.
